The future looks bright…

It’s been a while since we updated the blog – but that’s not to say that it hasn’t been quiet at CP HQ!

Over the past few months we have been in talks with some major players and have secured some fantastic briefs, giving you the opportunity to create stunning examples of work to enhance your portfolio.

One of the most noted clients we have been working with is Rigby and Peller (and if any of you know Ian he hasn’t started another business, this is one that deals in lingerie – royal lingerie to be precise!).

So not only are we creating a website for a company endorsed by royalty, but we are also working on a new logo for a company called Bliss and a research company called Bluesky. We have also recently secured briefs from a theatre company and also a national tourism company…so all in all it is pretty hot at the moment!

If any one reading this is new to the site and interested in taking advantage of the opportunities that working for CP can bring, then get in touch! We can provide you with live briefs from top companies, such as Rigby and Peller.

Good luck and keep up the hard work :)

Merry Christmas!

The team at Creative Protege would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and thank you for making 2009 so successful.

We have seen numerous graduates produce outstanding work and secure work at top agencies, help launch various products including a magazine stocked in the Tate Modern and even inspired one individual to start his own business.

Not forgetting that CP has been acknowledged for its online efforts at the Goldentwit Awards, and also came a runner-up at the Press Business Awards.

To top the year off we have recently been contacted by Business Because, all the way from Australia. Through the high quality work displayed online courtesy of you guys, CP has managed to impress an international organisation and secure work.

Next year should see more of you fulfill your dreams and set out in a career in design through perseverance and of course, work experience that CP provides.

Have a crackin’ Christmas!

Your talent is seeing real results!

PRESS RELEASE

Graduates help build business links all the way from down-under

The work of a virtual agency that uses the talent of local design graduates has caught the attention of a company all the way from Australia.

Creative Protege, based at York St. John University, guarantees inexperienced designers 3 months work experience with live briefs from top companies. As a result of the innovative, fresh and imaginative portfolio of graduate work displayed online, one Australian firm decided to make Creative Protege its first choice in graphic design.

Ian Rigby, Managing Director of Creative Protege, said: “It amazes me at the quality of work that the graduates provide us with. It is as a result of this that Business Because contacted us, all the way from Australia, and wanted to work with us in developing their website. It will be up to the management team at Creative Protege to liaise with the business and delegate the work, but up to graduates to complete the task.”

Being a virtual agency, Creative Protege is not limited by physical space or logistics. Complimented by the high quality of work, courtesy of the young design enthusiasts, the number of businesses approaching Creative Protege is growing every day.

As a result of the continued business development and expansion, Creative Protege is not only providing work experience, but the chance for companies to see exactly the level of graduate talent that might otherwise go unnoticed.

“Many companies that use our services offer financial and freelance rewards if the design fulfils the brief. It looks fantastic on their CV and helps incredibly with making their portfolio look more commercial. We would ask any business to come and see what our graduates are capable of.”

End

Saturday night

As promised here are the specifics for the Saturday spectacular in York, tomorrow, with the guys that make everything possible.

The night will be kicking off at 7.30pm in VJ’s Arts Bar (Finkle Street, YO1, 80W) followed by a group discussion as to the next best place to go and be (get) merry.

If you can’t make it then just wait for the photos that will be on here next week!

CP welcomes new employee

As Creative Protege expands more help is required to steer it in the right direction, and as a result we would like to introduce you to the newest member of our team, Richard Merchant.

Recently graduating from the University of Northumbria, the all-round designer brings to CP a wealth of knowledge that is already benefiting existing registered CP users.

With a passion for branding and furniture design, he is set to help CP storm into the new year (although we are sure his fear of nuts being partial to dress up as a bear wont have any effect on his performance!).

Awards Update…

CP has had a pretty eventful week, nominated for two prestigious awards. The first for New Business of the Year at The Press Business Awards, held at York Racecourse, and a nod for our efforts in social media,  with a Nomination in the Best Business to Consumer category, at the Golden Twit Awards, held in London.

Despite our fantastic efforts, we didn’t win either award-but we did come second at the Press Business Awards, pipped to the post by Northern Rail Ltd. The Golden Twit was given to the dream team behind Aleksander Orlov of  comparethemeerkat.com.

Diane Lazenby, who manages the offices at York St. John University, won a lifetime achievement award at The Press Business Awards, so many congratulations to her.

We are positive that with our continued efforts we will be rightfully recognised next year, so keep up the good work, and watch this space!

You can watch a recorded version of the Press Business Awards, and see a good close up of Ian grinning like a Cheshire cat, by clicking the link http://short.to/yquk or the Golden Twits at http://is.gd/57GrW, or check out pictures of the Press Business Awards below:

Christmas Cheer!

Hey everyone,

As I’m sure you’re aware Christmas is just around the corner, and as a result we wanted to invite you all to join us for drinks around York on December 5th. (Specifics to be decided nearer the date-just make room in your schedule!).

We hope to see lots of you there, as we really need to celebrate what everyone has achieved this year!
